Hannah Alena Herb

Hannah Alena Herb works intermedially at the intersection of painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. At the center of her artistic practice are the interactions between body, space, and materiality. She investigates how (non-) human bodies and spatial structures mutually produce and relate to one another. In doing so, she understands the body as a political and relational phenomenon that does not exist in isolation, but is embedded in complex assemblages of power relations, practices of care, dependency, control, and protection. From a feminist perspective, she examines how these entanglements structure bodily existence. In this way, bodies, spaces, and materials become legible as inextricably intertwined assemblages.
